SEXUALITY & GENDER
All Plotties are naturally hermaphrodites and are unfamiliar with the concept of "male" and "female" sexes. Physically, Plotties don't have visible genitals or any other characteristic that would suggest sex differences. Due to their hermaphroditism, Plotties are capable of self-fertilization in order to reproduce.
The concept of "Gender Identity" does not exist in Plottie culture. Plotties sometimes exhibit what may seem like "gender expression" through their looks as a result of observing and mimicking humans. However, Plotties don't grasp the concept of what what may be considered "female" or "male". For this same reason, they are not known to have any sexual/gender "preferences" or "inclinations". The lack of genders in Plottie society results in the nonexistence of established gender roles. Plotties consider they are all equal.
It can be concluded that Plotties don't really have a biological sexuality because their reproduction with other Plotties is asexual. In regards to orientation or attraction, most Plotties would be considered "panromantic" (in human terms) since they have no concept of gender and could feel attracted to any Plottie regardless of their apparent gender expression.

VERY IMPORTANT:
The terms such as "gender", "gender expression", "pronouns", "panromantic", "orientation", etc is simply used to make things easier for Plottie owners but none of these concepts exist in Plottie culture and are never used by Plotties themselves.

reproduction
single parenthood
Plotties have the ability to create offspring on their own by producing seeds through self-fertilization or by planting cuttings of their own blooms. The ability to breed with another Plottie is a matter or choice and not a requirement. Plotties that are born from a single parent are virtually clones. Genetically, they have the exact same set of traits the parent plant has.
how do two plotties breed?
When a Plottie has a partner they may optionally choose to breed with them. A Plottie's reproduction with another Plottie is asexual and happens when the cells of the two parents make physical contact and start to fuse through a process called grafting.
Breeding between two Plotties requires a seed from one of the parents and a cutting from the other parent. The seed and cutting are joined through a small cut made in the seed coat and allowed to fuse. This is called a Seed Graft. As the embryo starts to develop it will have a mix of cells from both the parents. The resulting offspring may be Hybrids, Chimeras or SS-Chimeras. |

F1 HYBRIDS
A Plottie Hybrid occurs when two variations of the same type of plant breed. Example: An Opium Poppy and a Californian Poppy.
Typically hybrids display characters intermediate between the parents. Traits involving dimensions, colors or numbers or shapes tend to be half way between the parents or an even combination of the two. A hybrid's name combines the names of the two parent plants and adds an "x" to the formula. |
f1 chimeras
A Chimera is the result of the breeding between two Plotties from different plants but the same sub-species. Example: A Sunflower Angie and an Orchid Angie.
When two completely different plants join their cells and start developing as one, the resulting Plottie will have two complete sets of DNA. Common chimera traits are different color blooms, heterochromia and even different colored tints. The combinations in a chimera are endless. Sometimes a chimera will have blooms from each of the parents and other times the two parent blooms are combined into one to make a completely unique and new plant. The way the parent plants' traits combine is unique to every chimera Plottie. Chimera names are a combination of the parent plants' name and the symbol "+". |
SUBSPECIES CHIMERAS (SS-CHIMERA)
An SS-Chimera occurs when two Plotties from completely different sub-species crossbreed. Example: A Rose Angie and a Pincushion Cactus Succhie.
These Plotties are the rarest Plotties to exist and are nearly impossible to produce naturally. Most SS-Chimeras are artificially engineered in laboratories because of their complexity and instability. These chimeras not only show a combination of traits from the two parent plants, but also a combination of sub-species traits and they may exhibit characteristics or abilities never seen before in any other Plottie. Every SS-Chimera produced is 100% unique and one-of-a-kind. SS-Chimeras follow the same naming rules as normal chimeras. |
